We all want to be remembered when we pass from this life. It is very natural to want to extend our values and influence into the future. We do this by passing our legacy of faith and hope to our children and grandchildren. We further exemplify our values through day-to-day actions and life choices as we plan for the future.

A very tangible way to extend our values and influence into the future is to establish an endowment fund. An endowment fund serves as a witness to our foresight and commitment to ministry. It is a way to make a significant difference tomorrow by doing something today. An endowment fund is simple to establish and very flexible. It can be established with a current gift or through a bequest or planned gift. An endowment fund is also enduring. Long after we are gone, our endowment fund will provide insight into what was and is important to us. It is our legacy, a remembrance and witness to our personal values.

One of the greatest joys of working at the Foundation is the enduring friendships that I have made over the last 15 years. It is an honor to work with friends who are demonstrating their generosity and faithfulness in a very tangible way. Their generosity today will be reflected in the work carried on by future generations.

Time and again I've witnessed persons from all backgrounds; all beginnings choose to support ministries and cherished causes through various forms of giving. From commitments of time to commitments of treasure, these people yearn to give in support of transforming another's life. Through our work at the Foundation, my mission is to help you see opportunities and pathways for fulfilling your yearning to give. As Christians, we share a common belief: to give our lives serving another. That challenge goes beyond and does not begin and end at the offering plate, or on the mission team, and or in the Sunday School class. Since all aspects of our lives are expressions of our Christianity, the challenge to give follows and leads us in every aspect, too. The Foundation helps all, whether a group or an individual, to rise and follow that challenge to give.

Don't you just love Bible stories where God does something extraordinary with (less than) ordinary people? Like an outcast who met Jesus at a well and became the town's evangelist, or a sinner who crashed the party and anointed Jesus' feet with her tears and set an example of repentance and humility, or a little guy who climbed a tree hoping to find a friend and became the town's best giver. These stories give guys like me hope. Each day you and your local church have opportunities to share this same message of change. The Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation provides services and consulting which can help empower you and your ministry. These may include planned giving, stewardship, budgeting, building issues, relocation, or lending. Allow us to partner with you so that together, we can expand God's extraordinary Kingdom.
